Bed Bug Videos
Bed bugs are still a major problem in London and big cities around the world and Bed bug pest control is still on the increase due to this pest. This is a worldwide fight against them and to control the rising number of them.
Adult Bed bugs are reddish-brown, flattened, oval, and wingless. Bed bugs have microscopic hairs that give them a banded appearance. Adults grow to 4–5 mm in length and 1.5–3 mm wide. A female bed bug can lay up to 300 eggs in her life time. An adult bed bug can go for 9 months without feeding, however, young need to feed often for their moults. See our bed bugs London blog for advice on how to prepare for treatments and much more.
The name ‘Bed bug’ is derived from the insect’s preferred habitat of houses and especially beds or other areas where people sleep. Bed bugs, though not strictly nocturnal, are mainly active at night and are capable of feeding unnoticed on their host. A number of health effects may occur due to bed bugs including skin rashes, psychological effects and allergic symptoms.
A bed bug pierces the skin of its host with two hollow feeding tubes. With one tube it injects its saliva, which contains anticoagulants and anaesthetics, while with the other it withdraws the blood of its host. bed bugs have an ability to make themselves difficult to find, this is because of the areas bed bugs get into, such as the frame of a bed, wardrobes, mattresses and any cracks or crevices that are in the near vicinity, all of which would be areas treated during a pest control extermination treatment or removal programme.
Unfortunately Bed bugs can be spread from property to property very easily in clothing, furniture and other materials such as bags, beds and books, as much care as possible should be taken to avoid this happening and causing further bed bugs infestations to family and friends.

A queen wasp will hibernate through the winter and then build a small nest at the start of the season using sperm from fertile males that she has stored from the season before in cells. This is how all nests start, the offspring of a queen emerge, breed and then as the worker males die off due to cold the new female queens search for an area to hibernate through the winter, they then construct the first stages of a nest when the season starts and the weather warms using the stored sperm of the males from the season before.
She will then start the building of a small nest and this is the beginning of a nest. A queen wasp could have mated with several males and she holds no higher status than other wasps, she merely starts the process off and starts the building of the nest. Towards the end of August as the season draws on and the young emerge the wasp require an alternative food source and this is when they become more of a nuisance for people, often being seen around sweet and sugary foods and drinks. Wasps are also attracted to strong smelling scents.
Wasps nests have been found to be all sizes and one of the largest recorded was found to consist of half a million wasps, measuring 6ft by 5ft. Wasps stings can be dangerous if stung around the mouth or throat area due to swelling, and there have been cases of people going into anarphylactic shock. If you do get stung by a wasp and are concerned about this consult a doctor immediately.

They can vary between tan, brown to almost black in colour, and have two dark parallel streaks running from the head to the base of the wings. Although German Cockroaches have wings, they are unable to sustain flight. Oriental Cockroach – Cockroach Identification
Oriental Cockroaches can Measure about 1 in (2.5 cm) in length at maturity and again are a more common cockroach found in the UK and Essex and London, Essex Pest Control and Essex Bird Control have vast experience in the removal of cockroaches, understanding their habits is crucial, the Oriental Cockroach prefers different conditions to the smaller German Cockroach. They are dark brown to black in colour and have a glossy body.
The female Oriental cockroach has a somewhat different appearance to the male, appearing to be wingless at casual glance but has two very short and useless wings just below her head. She has a wider body than the male. The male has long wings, which cover a majority of his body and are brown in colour, and has a more narrow body.
The Oriental Cockroach tends to travel somewhat more slowly than other species of the same pest. They are often called “waterbugs” since they prefer dark, moist places and are mainly although not always exclusively ground based due to the larger size of this cockroach.
This is generally in our experience a more straight forward pest control treatment compared to the German Cockroach due to their inability to spread the way the German Cockroach does as they are usually ground based although this is dependent on the level of the cockroach infestation and the length of time the infestation has occurred, any infestations are best dealt with immediately to prevent further spreading of the cockroaches and to prevent further risk of diseases and ill health as well as potential loss of business/ reputation if in the workplace.
